FakeYou Review: 3,500 Community Character Voices, Free With a Queue

FakeYou is a text-to-speech and voice-to-voice site built on voices trained by its own users. Pick SpongeBob, Homer Simpson, Rick Sanchez or a politician, type a line, and it speaks. It started in 2020 as Vocodes, a lockdown side project. It grew into one of the largest character voice libraries online. It is free to use with a queue, and paid plans buy priority and longer clips.

What does FakeYou do?

Text to Speech is the core. You search a library of more than 3,500 community-made voices and filter by language or rating. Then you type your text and press Speak. The result plays in the browser and can be downloaded or shared to the community feed. Voices are tagged with the model type behind them, and the featured list surfaces the ones that work best.

Voice to Voice takes a recording of you and makes it sound like the chosen character. That is how the Goku WhatsApp clips that went viral in Spanish-speaking countries were made. Voice Designer, in beta, lets you build your own AI voice. Two newer tools use open models. F5-TTS clones a voice from a short sample, and Seed-VC converts one voice into another.

Almost all of the voices come from the community. Creators train models and upload them, and a leaderboard ranks the most used. That is why the library is so large and why quality varies so much from one voice to the next.

The same team runs ArtCraft, an AI video product, and every FakeYou page now carries a banner for it. FakeYou describes itself as one piece of a wider set of production tools aimed at making feature-length content from home.
