Enhancv Review: Design-First Resumes With a Real ATS Check

Enhancv is a resume builder from Sofia, Bulgaria, running since 2015. Its pitch is design plus substance. The templates look better than most. Behind them sit an ATS checker, one-click tailoring to a job ad and an AI writing assistant.

What does Enhancv do?

Start from a template, an old resume or a LinkedIn profile. Enhancv parses the upload into sections the way an ATS reads it. The editor is live on the document. You drag sections, switch between single, double and multi-column layouts, and change fonts, colours and backgrounds. More than 20 section types cover the standard blocks plus personal ones like Strengths, Books and My Time.

The AI assistant works as you type. Improve Text suggests stronger wording, checks spelling and grammar and cuts repetition. Where a line needs a number it cannot know, it drops in a placeholder. It writes summaries, headlines, bullets and skills. It also translates the whole resume into more than 30 languages while keeping the layout.

Tailoring is one click. Paste a job ad and pick the three to five qualifications that fit. Enhancv rewrites the headline, summary, key achievements and bullets to match. Every change is highlighted, and you accept or reject them one by one.

The ATS check scores the resume against a job ad. The free checker runs 27 checks on any PDF or Word file. Inside the builder, gaps show up on the document itself with the fix. Around all of this sit a cover letter builder, a job application tracker and an AI job search. There is also interview prep with a mock interview, a LinkedIn coach and a Chrome extension.
