Jobscan: See Your Resume the Way an ATS Does

Jobscan is a resume checker that compares your resume to a specific job description. It gives you a match rate and shows which keywords you are missing. It also flags problems that could stop an applicant tracking system (ATS) from reading your file. It has been around for years and says more than one million job seekers rely on it.

What does Jobscan do?

You paste in your resume and a job posting. Jobscan scans both and returns a match report. The report scores your resume out of 100 and breaks it into sections: searchability, hard skills, soft skills, recruiter tips and formatting. Each section lists what to fix.

It also detects which ATS the employer uses, such as Workday, and tailors its advice to how that system reads resumes. The searchability checks confirm basics like contact details, a summary and standard section headings.

Beyond the scan, Jobscan has grown into a broader toolkit. Premium adds AI rewrites of your resume, an AI cover letter and bullet point generator, a LinkedIn profile optimizer and AI job matching. A Chrome extension lets you scan postings while you browse, and a job tracker keeps applications in order.

Which features stand out?

  • Match rate report — a score against each job with the exact keywords you are missing
  • ATS detection — advice tuned to the tracking system the employer uses
  • One-Click Optimize — AI rewrites to raise your match rate
  • LinkedIn Optimizer — checks your profile against the roles you want
  • AI cover letters and bullet points — drafts built from your resume and the posting
  • Job tracker and Chrome extension — scan and save jobs as you browse

How much does Jobscan cost?

Jobscan's plan page lists three options:

  • Free — $0, with 5 resume scans a month, 5 ATS and recruiter findings, the job tracker, resume builder and Chrome extension
  • Quarterly — $89.95 every 3 months, which works out to $29.98 a month, with a 7-day free trial
  • Monthly — $49.95 a month, with no trial

Both paid plans include unlimited scans and AI optimizations, the cover letter and bullet point generators, AI job match, two free auto-apply credits a month and 20% off interview practice. On the quarterly plan, the LinkedIn Optimizer unlocks after the trial ends.

Who is Jobscan for?

Jobscan suits anyone applying to companies that use an ATS, which covers most mid-size and large employers. It is most useful when you tailor your resume for each role and want a clear score to aim for. Career changers benefit too, since the keyword list shows which words a new field expects.

Where does Jobscan fall short?

Premium is expensive for a monthly plan. At $49.95, it costs more than many full resume builders. The quarterly plan is the better deal, but it locks you in for three months.

The free tier runs out fast. Five scans a month is enough to test it, not to tailor a resume for every application.

Chasing a high match rate can also backfire. Stuffing your resume with keywords may raise the score while making it read worse to the human who opens it next. Use the report as a guide, not a target. Finally, the monthly plan has no trial, so you only get to test Premium free if you choose quarterly billing.

Is Jobscan worth trying?

Yes. The free scans show quickly whether your resume is missing obvious keywords. If you are in an active search, the quarterly plan gives the best value. Keep the final edit human so the resume still reads well once it passes the ATS.
